Your TRU Login Credentials consist of your username and password and are used across Thompson Rivers University. Below are some of the many systems where you'll use the same username and password combination:
- TRUEmployee
- Campus Computers
- EDUROAM Wi-Fi
- Microsoft Office/365
- Outlook Email or Webmail
- Moodle
- TRU Library Services
As a New Employee, you will be issued a Username and temporary First Time Password - instructions are located on this page for how to use these credentials to create your own password. See the section "First Time Login & Setting Your Password" below for full details. You'll need the Username and First Time Password that were provided to you as part of your on-boarding with Thompson Rivers University to complete password setup.
The myID Self-Service Password Portal allows you to recover your password from any computer or mobile device, even while off campus.
Password Rules
- it must be between 12 and 20 characters long
- it must contain all of the following 4 types of characters: Uppercase, Lowercase, Numeric, and Symbols
- it is case sensitive
- CANNOT contain three consecutive letters and/or numbers from your TRU ID
- CANNOT contain your name or date of birth
Once your new password is set, it will remain in effect permanently, barring any security incidents or concerns.

Safeguard Your Passwords
Safeguard your passwords. Never share your passwords and use ones that are difficult to guess, but easy for you to remember. Strong Passwords should be at least 8 characters long, include a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers. Remember to change your passwords frequently. Consider a pass-phrase consisting of several words with characters that match the password rules as described above.

Enter your username and first time password as provided to you during the on-boarding process
- Username: Enter your Account Username as provided to you in the Username field
Example - for John Smith: jsmith
- First Time Password: Your birthday in the following format: TRUddmmmyy (two numbers for day, three letters for month, two numbers for year)
Example - January 1st, 1999 is entered as TRU01jan99
- Domain Drop Down: select TRU

Think of a strong new password that meets the requirements shown on the page and as described above

Fill out the password change form. The "Old Password" will be the temporary First Time Password used to login to the system. Enter your new strong password in the New Password and Confirm Password fields and save the password to your account.

A success message will be displayed when your password is accepted. If your password doesn't match the required password rules, a message will describe what rules are not being met. You have completed the password reset process and are now able to return to this site when necessary to manage your password and recovery email addresses.

Add, Delete, or Manage your Recovery Email Addresses
Computer Browser - Click the Enrollment Tab if it's not already loaded
Mobile Browser - Tap the Person Icon at the top-right and then tap Enrollment
Here you can manage your Recovery Email Addresses for your TRU Account. By default your @tru.ca address is added by the system, but you should add an active personal email address for password recovery if you're unable to access your @tru.ca emails.

Steps to Add a Recovery Email to your TRU Account
Computer Browser - Click the Add Email link, enter an email address that you currently have access to, and click Send Code to email a Verification Code.
You will have 5 minutes to complete the verification process. Check the added email inbox for an email from noreply@adselfserviceplus.tru.ca
When the code arrives in your email, enter it in the Verification Code box and click Verify Code. If accepted, you'll see the message "Successfully Updated the Registration details." be displayed on the page.
Mobile Browser - Tap the (+) Plus Icon to add an entry for another email address. Enter an email address that you currently have access to then tap Update to add it. When complete, you'll see the message "Enrollment details updated successfully." be displayed on the page.

Steps to Remove a Verification Email from your TRU Account
Computer Browser - Click the Pencil Icon next to the email address you wish to remove, then click Remove Mail in the dialogue that will open. Click Yes to confirm removing the email. When complete, you'll see the message "Successfully Updated the Registration details." be displayed on the page.
Mobile Browser - Tap the (-) Minus Icon next to the email address you wish to Remove. Tap the Update button at the top-right of the page to save your changes. When complete, you'll see the message "Enrollment details updated successfully." be displayed on the page.
