Install Teams & Teams for Outlook - Windows

Install Microsoft Teams

This Article will Guide you through Installing Microsoft Teams if it isn't present on your Computer. Installing MS Teams will also install the Teams Meetings Add-On for Outlook to allow you to send Teams Meetings Requests through Email with Outlook.

  1. Close any and all open Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc...)

  2. Visit the Teams Web Apps Version online with your Web Browser

  3. Sign In to Teams for the Web when prompted by the page. Enter your Email Address then Click Next.

  4. Enter your TRU Network Password and Click Sign In

  5. At this point, you may need to Authenticate with DUO Multifactor. If a DUO Prompt appears, Click your preferred DUO Method and Complete to proceed

  6. Click Yes or No when prompted to Stay Signed In - according to your preference

  7. Teams for the Web will now load

  8. Locate the Settings Button at the Top-Right, next to Your Profile Icon - it will look like "..."

  9. Click on "..." then Click "Download the desktop app"

  10. Depending on your Web Browser and its Settings: the MS Teams Installer will begin to download automatically to your Downloads Folder, or your Browser will prompt you to Choose a Location to Save the Installer

  11. Locate the Downloaded MS Teams Installer, either in your Web Browser's Downloads or the Download Folder you have chosen.

    Open and Run the Installer

  12. Wait for the Installer to complete

  13. Sign In with your Email Account when prompted, or Open Microsoft Teams

  14. A prompt for "Stay signed in to all your apps" may appear. If you are using a Personal Computer and NOT a TRU-Provided Device, be sure to Un-Select the option "Allow my organization to manage my device" and then Click the link for "No, sign in to this app only". If you are using a TRU-Provided Device - simply Click OK to proceed without changing any options

  15. This also installs the Teams Meetings Add-On for Outlook to allow you to send Teams Meetings Requests through Email

  16. Microsoft Teams should now be installed and open - ready for use

  17. If you encounter issues or error messages with MS Teams, please Contact the IT Service Desk
