Global Protect VPN Setup for Windows

To setup VPN on your Windows device, follow the instructions below.

The portal you will use for signing in will depend on your account type. Please reference this table for what Portal to use when signing in

Instructions

1. Ensure you have disconnected from an existing VPN portal or application before proceeding. 

2. Open a web browser and visit the appropriate Portal URL above to install the GlobalProtect VPN application

3. Sign in with your TRU credentials

Students
  Contractors, Non-Employees
and Employees (Staff and Faculty)
  • Use your TRU ID number as your user name
  • Multifactor authentication is not required
  • User your TRU Network user name
  • Some accounts may require Multifactor Authentication

4. Download the Global Protect client version for your computer.

5. Once downloaded, run the installer file. Depending on your previous selection you will either see GlobalProtect.msi or GlobalProtect64.msi.

If you are asked to allow the installer to run, select Yes.

6. Once the VPN is finished installing, enter the appropriate portal address. More instructions on how to add the VPN portal address can be found here: Global Protect VPN Portals

7. Sign in with your TRU credentials.

Students, Contractors, Non Employees

Employees (Staff and Faculty)

Use your full TRU Email address when signing in. You will be prompted for your Microsoft Authenticator MFA.
GlobalProtect may have your email saved if you use Microsoft Office/Teams on your computer.

8. When you need to connect later or disconnect click the up arrow beside your system clock. Click the globe symbol. Then Connect/Disconnect.
