How do I setup Microsoft Authentication?

Registering a device gives your phone access to your organization's services but doesn't allow your organization access to your phone.

Important Notes:

  • Keep DUO Installed: Do not remove the DUO app until after October 18th, 2024. Do not remove the DUO app if is used for any other accounts.
  • MFA Locations: Similar to DUO, you will only be prompted for MFA while off campus. It is not required when signing on the wired or wireless networks at TRU.

 

Preferred Method: Install the Microsoft Authenticator App on Your Phone

On your phone, visit this web page to download the Microsoft Authenticator app, or follow these QR codes:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device. You can find it in your device's app store.
    Note: Keep the DUO app installed as it is still required for VPN access.
  2. Visit https://aka.ms/mfasetup on your computer or mobile device.
  3. Complete the MFA setup prompt that appears.
  4. Click “Add sign-in method” and select “Authenticator app” from the dropdown menu if it is not already listed
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to link your account with the app.
  6. You're all set! Your new MFA method is now ready to use.
