Overview
This guide will walk you through the steps to log in to Microsoft Teams at TRU, whether you're using the desktop app, web version, or mobile device.
Log in Using the Desktop App (Recommended)
- Open the Microsoft Teams app on your computer. (If you don’t have it installed, you can download it from Microsoft's website.)
- Enter your username and click Next.
- For Students: Your TRU ID number followed by @mytru.ca (e.g., T00123456@mytru.ca).
- For Employees: Your username followed by @tru.ca (e.g., Jane Smith would be jsmith@tru.ca).
- Enter your TRU password and click Sign in.
- Complete the sign-in process using Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if prompted.
Log in Using the Web Version
- Go to Microsoft Teams Online.
- Enter your username and click Next.
- For Students: Your TRU ID number followed by @mytru.ca (e.g., T00123456@mytru.ca).
- For Employees: Your username followed by @tru.ca (e.g., Jane Smith would be jsmith@tru.ca).
- Enter your TRU password and click Sign in.
- Complete the sign-in process using Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if prompted.
Log in Using the Mobile Device (iOS/Android)
- Download the Microsoft Teams app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Open the app and Enter your username and click Next.
- For Students: Your TRU ID number followed by @mytru.ca (e.g., T00123456@mytru.ca).
- For Employees: Your username followed by @tru.ca (e.g., Jane Smith would be jsmith@tru.ca).
- Tap Sign in, then enter your TRU password.
- Complete the sign-in process using Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if prompted.
Chromebook and Linux Users
TRU does not officially support Microsoft Teams on Chromebook or Linux, though you may still be able to access it using the following options:
- Chromebook: Use Microsoft Teams Online in a supported browser (Google Chrome or Edge). Some users may also be able to install the Android version of the Teams app from the Google Play Store.
- Linux: Microsoft Teams has a Linux client, though support for it has ended. You can try using Microsoft Teams Online in a web browser or check Microsoft’s official Linux support page for updates.
