Microsoft Teams: Captions and Transcriptions

Overview

Microsoft Teams offers features for both live captions and transcription during meetings. Live captions provide real-time text of what is being spoken, while transcription captures the entire meeting in a written format, making it easier to refer back to later.

Enable Live Captions

  1. In your meeting controls, select More options (···).
  2. Select Language and Speech > Turn on live captions.

Enable Transcription

  1. In your meeting controls, select More options (···).
  2. Select Record and Transcribe > Start transcription.

Turn Off Live Captions

  1. In your meeting controls, select More options (···).
  2. Select Language and Speech > Turn off live captions.

Stop Transcription

  1. In your meeting controls, select More options (···).
  2. Select Record and Transcribe > Stop transcription.
