Adding a Video to Your Moodle Course
Kaltura is a media platform used for creating, storing, editing, and sharing multimedia content directly in Moodle.
Starting Off:
- Go to the My Media section after you log into Moodle.
Upload or Record a New Video
Kaltura can be used to upload an existing video file or record and edit a new video. Click "Add New" and select one of the following options:
- Media Upload: allows you to upload an existing media file
- Express Capture: allows you to quickly record audio and video from your webcam
- Kaltura Capture: allows you to record audio, video, and your screen at the same time
Setting Video Details:
- Once your video is uploaded, you can change the title, add a description, and more.
- Click Save to save your changes
Sharing the Video in Your Course:
Your video can be shared either as a standalone resource or embedded within any content that uses Moodle's editor (e.g. Text & Media Area, Page, Book).
To share your video as a standalone resource:
- Toggle on edit mode in the top-right corner
- Click Add an activity or resource and choose Kaltura Video Resource.

- Add a name and a description for your video resource.

- Click the Add Media Button.
To embed your video:

While editing a relevant activity or resource (e.g. Text & Media Area, Page, Book, etc.), click the "Embed Kaltura Media" Button

A pop-up window will appear. Find your video from the list and click the "Embed" button, which looks like this: </>

The media will now be embedded in the resource. Be sure to save your changes.
