Collaboration Rooms

What is a Collaboration Room?

A collaboration room is a special kind of classroom found on the second floor of the Old Main building. These rooms are set up so that many groups can show different things on each TV or one person can show the same thing on all TVs from the instructor computer. Each work area has its own TV and a set of controls and connection ports on the table.

Common Issues

By far the most common issue specific to Collaboration Rooms is a report that the instructor or presenter cannot get their computer to show on all screens in the room. This usually happens because of an issue with the HDMI Switch, which is the box that sends the video signal to the TVs. If this happens, here’s what to do:

  1. Unplug all of the HDMI Cables from the HDMI Switch (See our Identifying Display Cables Knowledge Base Article),
  2. Unplug the Power Cable from the HDMI Switch,
  3. Wait for 30 seconds. This step 'resets' the HDMI Switch,
  4. Plug the Power Cable back into the HDMI Switch
  5. Plug all HDMI Cables back in.

Doing these steps, also known as "power-cycling," usually lets you start showing your content on all the TVs again.
