What is the Digital Student ID Card?
The TRU Digital Student ID Card is your official student ID available online. You can access it through the myTRU portal on both mobile devices and desktop computers.
- Web version — opens in your browser.
- Mobile version — opens in the TRU mobile app on your phone.
Before You Start
- You must be a registered student.
- Sign in with your @mytru.ca student account.
First-Time Setup
- Go to myTRU.
- Select Digital Student ID Card in the Additional Services menu

Login Information
Students: TRU ID number followed by @mytru.ca (Example: T00123456@mytru.ca)
Password: TRU password
- When prompted, upload a photo. You will be redirected to your TRU Microsoft account to complete the upload.
- After the upload finishes, your card will display.
Expected result: Your Digital Student ID Card appears with your name and photo. On future visits, the card opens directly without extra steps.
Accessing Your Card Later
- On Desktop: Sign in to myTRU and select Digital Student ID Card.
- On Mobile: Use the TRU mobile app or open myTRU in your mobile browser and select Digital Student ID Card.
Troubleshooting
1) “Request Access” appears (employees who are also students)
The Digital Student ID Card only works with @mytru.ca student accounts. If your device is signed in with an employee @tru.ca account, you may see a “Request Access” message.
- Open a different browser or an incognito/private window, then sign in with your @mytru.ca account.
- Sign out of PowerApps, then sign in again using your @mytru.ca account.
Expected result: The Digital Student ID Card opens without the “Request Access” message.
2) Not prompted to upload a photo
If you previously changed your Microsoft account photo, the upload screen may not appear again.
- Open the Digital Student ID Card.
- Select your initials in the top-right corner.
- Select View account and update your photo there.
Expected result: Your updated photo displays on the card after refresh.
3) Cannot access the Digital Student ID Card
- Confirm you are a registered student.
- Confirm you are signing in with your @mytru.ca account.
- If access still fails, contact the IT Service Desk. If you are registered and using the correct account, the issue will be escalated to the appropriate team.
Expected result: You can sign in and view the card once the account issue is resolved.
